TelemetryTV has a series of apps in our App Library that allow you to create beautiful digital signage in under 3 minutes. Many of our apps let you choose from a selection of pre-loaded backgrounds, and you can also upload your own to really personalize it. Include your logo or a custom illustration that represents your organization.

I'm going to give you a few tips to create the perfect custom background to complement our apps:

1. Ensure the media is the right size for your screen.

When creating your background asset, ensure that the media (image or video) is optimized for the screen on which you'll display it. The most common resolution for screens is 1920 x 1080 pixels. If you are displaying on 4K screens, the resolution is quadrupled: 3840 x 2160 pixels

2. Be aware of the overlay ratio.

Many of our apps, such as the Profile App or Quote App, feature an overlay on top of the background, in which the text and images are held. We recommend putting the important content for your background media outside of this overlay so that it is visible.

The overlay on a 1080p screen is 1600 x 855 pixels. On a 4K screen, it is 3200 x 1710 pixels. When creating your content on editing software, I recommend creating a shape that matches the overlay resolution, centering it, and adding your content around that. This will give you an idea of how it will look on screen.

☝️Please note: These overlay sizes will not apply exactly when inserting apps in Playlist Zones. You can adjust zone padding which will affect the margin and overlay size.

Here are some examples that show backgrounds that were expertly created to work with our apps:
