The Board Editor is a tool within TelemetryTV that allows you to build your own dashboards or digital signage with ease! 

A board is a collection of Elements and/or Widgets. Elements are simple items such as shapes, images, videos or TelemetryTV apps. Widgets are items used to visualize data by associating a Metric with the Widget. Elements and Widgets are both organized across a user determined layout.

Note that widgets are locked to a grid system, while elements can be placed freely across your board.

You can create a new board by navigating to the Boards section of TelemetryTV and clicking Create.

This will bring up a new window where you'll have the option of starting with a blank board or pre-existing template. 

Regardless of which option you select, you will have to provide a Board Name before you can create your board.

After you've made your choice and provided a Board Name, you can click Create to go into the Board Editor.

Click the text area highlighted below to update the name of the board

Click the arrow icon highlighted below to reveal a dropdown menu listing all the boards created under your account. This menu allows you to quickly switch to a different board from within the editor.

Click the cogwheel icon highlighted below to reveal the settings menu for your board.

The settings menu for a board is depicted below

Icon:  The icon which is displayed beside the Board Name header. Icon is only displayed when the "Show Header" setting is enabled.

Theme: The background colour of your board can be customized by changing the Theme setting.

Aspect Ratio: The ratio of the width to the height of the screen the board will be displayed on. You have the option between:

Grid Size: The dimensions for the grid you will be placing your Widgets within. Note that Elements are not locked to the grid, only Widgets.

Loop Animation Sequences: If you have any Animation Sequences configured for you board, you can choose whether you'd like to loop them or only perform the animation once.

Interactive: When Interactive Mode is enabled, an additional "Buttons" layer is added to your board. Buttons are objects that can be added to your board to offer a more interactive experience. If your board is being displayed on a touch-screen device, you might want to add a Button object that would hide or show certain elements upon being pressed.

Show Margins: When Show Margins is enabled, your board will be displayed with a transparent border around it's content. When it's disabled, your content will go to the edge of the board. 

Show Header: When Show Header is enabled, your board will display the Icon you have selected along with the Board Name at the top-left side of the board. It will also display your account's Logo at the top-right side. The Logo can be updated from your account settings.

Below is an example of what your board header might look like.

Show Footer: When Show Footer is enabled, you'll have the ability to display any combination of the following at the bottom of your board:

Show Tickertape:  Enabling Show Tickertape will reveal a configurable Ticker Message section at the bottom of your board. You can click the Ticker Message to set and modify it. Multiple messages can be configured for a board.

Show Clock: Display the time at the bottom-right side of your board. The time will overlay the tickertape if you have the Show Tickertape setting enabled.

Show Weather: Show the weather at the bottom-right side of your board. The weather will overlay the tickertape if you have the Show Tickertape setting enabled. If Show Clock and Show Weather are both enabled, your board will alternate between showing weather and time.

The portion highlighted in red below is the Board Layer Selector. 

It's important to note that each layer has been placed on different z-indexes on the page. 

What this means for you is that you won't be able to move around an element when All Layers is the selected option. Instead, you would have to select the Elements layer first.

The z-index priority from top-layer to bottom-layer is as follows:

All Layers: Elements, Widgets and Buttons will all be visible at the same time. If Interactive Mode is enabled, Buttons will be the top-most layer, otherwise it will be the Widgets layer. This option is most useful for when you want to see what your board looks like as a whole.

Buttons: Behaves like All Layers but is only selectable when Interactive Mode has been enabled for the board.

Widgets: Widgets and Elements will be visible at the same time. However, you will only be able to move around and interact with Widgets. Buttons will not show regardless of whether Interactive Mode is enabled.

Elements: Only Elements will be visible, and you will only be able to move around and interact with Elements.

The area highlighted below in red is the Object Overview Panel. 

It provides an overview for all the contents of your board (e.g. Elements, Widgets and Buttons). 

When All Layers is selected you will see Elements, Widgets and Buttons in the overview panel.

When any other layer is selected, you will only see objects pertaining to that layer. This means if you had the Elements Layer selected, you would only see Elements in the Object Overview Panel.

You can click an individual object within the overview panel to open up it's configuration options.
